Energy

Steve started his legal career in 1992 at Slaughter and May. A chance happening of sitting with a senior partner who had just privatised the first stage of the UK electricity market led to a career on energy projects, structuring and development. Steve lectured on new markets for gas and power, and has drafted energy legislation for the statute books in five countries.

He became the adviser to several national energy companies, including Gazprom, Rosneft, United Utilities, MOL (Hungary), the Saudi Electric Company, the Kuwait Oil Company, British Gas, as well as the governments of Israel, the UK, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Cyprus, Ghana and Equatorial Guinea.

Steve retired from practice as the head of the London office of a US law firm in 2016 to set up other business interests, but regularly still publishes on issues around energy and energy reform.
