Steve has a portfolio of interests. He still consults on both energy and natural resources globally, and the scaling of start-ups in the UK. In 2016 he launched Emerald Life, the UK’s first insurer dedicated to equality within the financial services sector. Steve regularly speaks on industry bodies and conferences on inusarnces barriers surrounding women, the LGBT+ community and those with disabilities. He is co-founder of the Institute of Actuaries national working group on the experiences of the LGBT+ community in insurance.

In 2019, Steve invested in a small dog walking business in Brighton – Rooddog. It's since become the largest dog walking business on the South Coast, handling 700 dogs a week.

Steve holds various business interests in South Africa, where he frequently spends his time.
